Youth

We have a thriving youth group for young people who are secondary school-aged, meeting twice a month for a ‘chill-out’ time with fun, food and discussion, as well as taking part in ‘all-age’ activities like Outdoor Church, helping at Holiday Club, and even performing drama or music in the monthly Sunday@6 services, or the outdoor Passion Play at Easter.

Outings

Youth group outings have included climbing walls, bowling, trampoline parks, and the now annual ‘Wilderness Worship’.

Children

Activities exclusively for children in the Vale of Pewsey include the hugely popular Summer Holiday Club; half term events; seasonal events such as the Light Party, Christmas Crafternoon and Easter trails. Plus there are many ‘all-age’ events suitable for children, see below.

Holiday Club

With a different fun-packed theme each year, our Summer Holiday Club is always a hit with primary-school-aged children. With games, crafts, drama, jokes, Bible-stories, team-challenges, prayer, and snacks, for many it’s the highlight of the school holidays. Our last full Holiday Club was ‘Mega-Makers’ in 2025 which kept our young inventors occupied and engaged throughout. Last year we took a slight break with just a single ‘Fun Day’. We’ll be back to full strength for 2027!

Families

Churches are communities of people of all ages with differing personalities and needs – finding events we can all find engaging together can be challenging, but we believe it’s worth it. Below are just a few examples from around the team, check the events tabs above for a current list.

Café Church

At St. John’s Pewsey on the second Sunday each month, a relaxed, informal church service, with drinks and refreshments throughout; drama, quizzes, and the odd Lego challenge. St. James North Newnton and St. Matthew’s Rushall also have a Café church service, a relaxed gathering with refreshment at the start.

Outdoor Church

On the fourth Sunday each month, we meet together, often at St. John’s Churchyard and head out for a walk. With a different theme each month, we spend time together in nature, seeing our creator in what we find and doing a few simple activities, or just chatting. Hot drinks and snacks round things off around a fire-pit.

The team

Events and activities for youth, children and familes are run by an enthusiastic bunch – we’re passionate about sharing God’s love for everyone, regardless of age, but realise that tailored activities in age-groups are important as well as ‘all-age’ events. We do as much as we can to be inclusive of all abilities and learning styles, celebrating our uniqueness, and above all making sure events are fun and safe.

Rob and Anne Marsh, with Vicky Fawdry lead the youth events, while Heidi Gorvin and Iain Gutteridge lead children & families activities, along with Rev. Hazel Davis plus many wonderful volunteers, especially at the mega summer holiday club.
