Easter Sunrise Service draws a crowd

Group of people on a hill, with sunrise behind - celebrating Easter

Early risers were blessed with a beautiful sunrise at the end of the service on Martinsell Hill on Easter Sunday morning this year. Over 55 people from St. John’s Pewsey, Pewsey Methodist and others gathered for a service of communion at 5.45am, along with about a dozen dogs.

The service led by Rev. Mark Windsor was a spectacular celebration of Jesus resurrection, the sun clearing the low cloud just as the service ended. Back at the car park at Clench, hot tea and coffee and bacon rolls were waiting for the early-risers. None were more grateful than the group of six walkers who had set off walking from St. John’s in Pewsey at 3.50am to make the 4 mile hike up Martinsell to join those who had parked at Clench.

The service is a beautiful way to mark Easter, well worth setting an early alarm for next year!
